Abstract

Background research on preservation in the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The formulation of the problem is how the preservation activities are carried out in the library UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and any obstacles encountered during the process of preservation. This study aims to determine what efforts have been made by the library UIN Sunan Kalijaga in terms of preservation activities. This study is a qualitative field research. While data collection techniques using proposive sampling, the sampling technique based on certain characteristics, which have nothing to do with what will be studied through interviews .Proses documents and data analysis using the theory of Miles and Hubarman, namely by reducing the data; focusing on the research theme, presenting the data; explained based on interviews and documentation, as well as the analysis concludes. The research sample in this study is any data from interviews, observation and document data included in this paper and then analyzed through descriptive analysis that outlines the existing data so that it can be taken a conclusion.In activities of preservation of library materials of various damaging factors give a lesson for us in all aspects of the treatment. How should we conduct investigations, emergency response, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of library materials. This treatment can not be done alone; it must build cooperation with other parties.
