Abstract

Library based learning is not just learning the use of the library as a source of information, but a more profound learning by doing in the library. The research was conducted in III Yogyakarta Senior High Schools, with the aim to find out if there is a library-based learning effect on student achievement III Yogyakarta Senior High School Academic Year 2011/2012. This study population is X and XI class in III Yogyakarta Senior High School Academic Year 2011/2012, amounting to 411 students. The sample size is 20% of the population to 82 students taken in the lottery is by accidental sampling technique. Data collection was performed using the method of observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Use the data analysis product moment correlation with SPSS 17 for windows version. The results showed that the use of the library as a learning resource by students III Yogyakarta Senior High Schools belong to the category as a whole is very high, as evidenced by the value of the grand mean of 4,07, and also significantly affect student achievement. This is evidenced by the value of the correlation coefficient of 0.675. Therefore, the t value with t table (> 0.220) greater, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. Referring to the results of these studies, the researchers were able to make suggestions, the library is expected to further improve the quality of the library in order to help improve student achievement to the fullest.
