Abstract

Image segmentation is one of the important topic in digital image processing which dividing image in each area intensity, so could be distinguish between object and the background. The variety application of image segmentation help human importance so much. One of it’s application is upgrading the quality of medical image as pre-processing in order to make easier for analized or interpreted through human visual means. In this research there are three main process, among others is preprocessing, processing, dan analysis. Process that present at pre-processing phase are sharpening, brightness, dan contrast. Processing phase was did by image segmentation use otsu and iterative method. Whereas analysis phase was did by 3 comparison parameter, that is timing run, mean square error (MSE), and signal to noise ratio (SNR). This research use 10 image sample from the various medical image. This research was did by image that through pre-processing and without pre-processing. The experimental results on the image with pre-processing, that is 3 image compatible to use otsu and 7 image compatible to use iterative. The experimental results on the image without pre-processing, that is 6 image compatible to use otsu and 4 image compatible to use iterative. Based on the result, seen from comparison of the three parameter produce a great segmentation method use pre-processing is iterative method, beside otsu method for without using pre-processing.
