Abstract

Due to the re-emergence of issues of religious symbolism in the political world of this country, religion is considered contrary to the principles of democracy and Pancasila, and the problem of the establishment of a religious state has arisen. Religion continues to be played by a group of people who claim to be the holiest, others are considered untrue. In this context, the face of religion is politicized in the name of the interests of certain political commodities, so that there is the potential for social and political friction for mankind in the space of belief. Moreover, in the midst of a country that is currently facing the challenge of plurality, religion is not present to encourage legal mechanisms, which are only good for its adherents. Religion must exist to encourage human collectivity, and to continue to improve social and political problems. Inclusive religious attitudes, must be shown by Islam, are far more important. In line with Pancasila as an open ideology. This thesis examines religious and political thinking in the view of Nurcholish Madjid. This research focuses on three problem formulations: First, how Nurcholish Madjid thinks about the inclusion of religion and politics in the midst of the challenge of plurality, second, how Pancasila as a socio-political and moral collective fact in the name of humanity, third, how to build a nation as an agreement people's social politics according to Nurcholish Madjid. This research is library research. With a contextual-sociological approach, for the knife of analysis uses Emile Durkheim's theory of social moral collectivity. Regarding the results of this research, first, Religion must dare to leave out exclusive political symbols, which are not only good and beneficial by its adherents. But also, what must be fought for are universal humanitarian values, without having to consider differences in race, religion, culture, politics, so that religion is no longer important in the public space. Humanity is far more important than symbols. So religion in socio-politics must encourage the moral collectiveness of humanity, so that what is seen, the victory of Islam is the victory of ideas and the victory of the entire human race in the socio-political space. Both Pancasila are formulated for the sake of open human moral collectivity, so that there is a humanitarian dialogue, on the grounds of a number of countries. Instead, it is in line with the idea of democratization that upholds equitable humanity Third, the nation state according to Nurcholish is all citizens can live and thrive with their advanced ideas, physically healthy, and without the slightest meaning. Therefore, ideas that come from various ethnicities, religions, races, cultures from the children of the country, should be accepted gracefully, if they are useful for the future of the country. They also have that right. In it, too, citizens must abide by the rules of law made together. Thus was born a civilized country, as well as a civilized society.
