Abstract

This study aims to determine the strategies used by TBM Rumah Asa in improving community literacy. This type of research is qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were the administrators of the TBM Rumah Asa, and the object of this study was the book event program. Data collection was carried out through observations, interviews, and documentations. The main data sources of this research were interviews and observations, while the additional data sources were documentations, etc. The data analysis technique used in this study was the Miles and Huberman model which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and withdrawal conclusion. The validity of the data was tested by increasing persistence, triangulation and member checking. From the result of this study, it can be seen that TBM Rumah Asa has 4 strategies in improving community literacy, including (1) holding activities gelaran buku, (2) making concepts from books to works, (3) making poster art, (4) utilizing social media as a means of promotion and communication. From the result of this study the researchers suggested that TBM to continue innovating in improving community literacy, TBM publish pamphlets gelaran buku events a maximum of 3 days before the activity begins. TBM also can ask the community to help publish events pamphlets. Other than that, TBM can make the theme of gelaran buku events every week according to the target.
