Abstract

This research is motivated by the enjoyable response of the children as long as the researcher plays the magic sound of the muppet puppet. Besides, the use of the magic sound of the muppet puppet is still rarely found in school institutions, especially Early Childhood Education institution, due to the lack of availability of the magic sound of the muppet puppet handbook. This research aims to: 1) develop the magic sound of the muppet puppet handbook; 2) find out the feasibility of developing the magic sound of the muppet puppet handbook; 3) find out the teacher's opinion on the muppet puppet show in edutainment learning to increase children's learning interest. This study uses an R&D research method with the Borg & Gall development model.The type of data obtained is quantitative data and qualitative data. Quantitative data were collected based on the results of validation consisting of questionnaires by material experts, media experts, early childhood education strategy experts, product users, and teacher's evaluation towards the muppet puppet show. Qualitative data were obtained through observation, comments and suggestions on product development and the magic sound of muppet puppet shows. The result obtained of product development in the form of the magic sound of the muppet puppet handbook that is: First, product development was analyzed based on the child's response to magic sound, a literature study related to magic sound, and observation. The design that was developed contained foreword, table of contents, motivational words, content (magic sound recognition, techniques in breathing, vocal processing, pronunciation of letters conjured up, practice with muppet puppet), story script, glossaries, bibliography, and references author's biodata. Second, appropriateness of the product get an overall average rating of 4.52 with an excellent category. Each assessment by a material/content expert is 4.67; media expert's assessment is 4.1; strategy expert's of early childhood education assessment is 4.69; product user's assessment is 4.63. Third, the teacher's opinion on the magic sound of the muppet puppet is considered to be very fun, exciting, and become something new for children, and can increase their learning interest. This was obtained based on the teacher's assessment of the muppet puppet sound magic performance is 94.8% which stated that the average children was happy with the presence of the muppet puppet and increased his interest in learning.
