Abstract

The character of responsibility is the ability from within a person to act and behave consciously, ready to bear all the actions of oneself, able to know obligations, make plans for the future and discipline. To build this character, it is necessary to have a character education process carried out by the family. This study aims to determine the process of character education of responsibility in adolescents by working and non-working mothers. This study includes qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, interviews and field notes. The results in this study indicate that the process of character education by working and non-working mothers was carried out by prioritizing several important things in it, namely communication, building trust, openness, taking lessons from the past, providing positive habits, and always observing children's behavior. Of course, in the process of character education, there are also supporting and inhibiting factors. Although informants have so many variants activities, this does not make a difference in the implementation of character education because working or not working depends on the mother's ability to manage time in her daily life and how to educate her..
