Abstract
This study aims to determine whether or not there is a positive relationship between parental example and the character of tolerance in adolescent students at the high school level. This research was conducted on adolescent students of MAN 1 Yogyakarta. The sample of this study amounted to 254 students who were taken by using cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected using a parental exemplary scale which has an alpha coefficient of 0.940 and a tolerance character scale which has an alpha coefficient of 0.937. Statistical analysis technique used is Spearman Rho correlation statistic. The results of the analysis show that there is a positive effect of parental example and tolerance character on students with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). The results of this study indicate that the character of tolerance in students 46.1% is determined by the example of parents, and 53.9% is determined by other factors
