Abstract

This thesis discusses about building community literacy towards the Al-Mu'min Order in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The purpose of this thesis is to explain the literacy carried out by the Al-Mu'min Order in building the understanding of the people of Sambas Regency towards the Al-Mu'min Order and to analyze the impact of literacy carried out for the development of the Al-Mu'min Order in Sambas Regency. This thesis uses qualitative research methods using literacy theory and symbolic interaction theory. The data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of the data using data triangulation, while the analysis technique through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are activities to build community literacy towards the Al-Mu'min Order which are carried out directly and indirectly. The direct activity is to carry out a missionary safari (tabligh akbar) from mosque to mosque from area to area that is still in the Sambas Regency area and it is carried out consistently every month. While the literacy process indirectly is by writings that become the basis for building public understanding of the Al-Mu'min Order, namely books that have been published including a book entitled Secrets of the Journey to God, Khazanah Al Mu'min Pearl of Concept Science. and the Teachings of Tariqah Al Mu'min and the Fort College of Mu'min, and the Essence of Tariqah Al-Mu'min. The existence of literacy carried out by the Al-Mu'min Order slowly changes the public's image of the tarekat which used to say the tarekat is a heretical teaching, only devoted to people who are old, making people poor and forgetting the world slowly being eroded in society. . The impact of the literacy that was conveyed was a change in the mindset of the community towards the tarekat institutions especially the Al-Mu'min congregation as a whole. This makes the public openness to the Da'wah of the Al-Mu'min Order.
