Abstract

Learning motivation is closely related to learning outcomes. During distance learning, student learning outcomes tend to decline. It can be seen from the tasks given by the teacher which were not done satisfactorily and only to fulfill the status of the task having been completed. Group guidance is believed to be able to re-increase students' learning motivation because it triggers the re-emergence of competitiveness among students who were previously lost due to distance learning as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research used is descriptive research type. The analytical approach in this study uses qualitative analysis. The data collection method used is the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study were one counseling teacher, two homeroom teachers for class VIII B-C, and four students of class VIII B-C at MTs Persis Sindangkasih Ciamis, West Java. The purpose of this study was to find out, describe and analyze group guidance methods to increase student motivation in the class of VIII MTs Persis Sindangkasih Ciamis West Java. The results of this study indicate that the group guidance method to increase student motivation in the class VIII MTs Persis Sindangkasih Ciamis West Java is to use the homeroom program method, namely this program is carried out in a comfortable place outside of class hours to discuss some of the problems that are felt important. The main goal of this program is for teachers to be able to identify their students more closely so they can help them effectively. In addition to using the homeroom program method, counseling teachers also use group discussion methods, group activities, and remedial teaching.
