Abstract

An online fundraising application, Wecare.id is here to develop a fundraising mechanism that was originally carried out directly by meeting face to face into an online fundraiser based on a website and application. Fundraising in Wecare.id set a Platform administration fee called the "Platform Fee" of 5% of the amount of funds raised. This fundraising practice is fundamentally socially oriented and should not ask for returns on funds managed. On the other hand, Wecare.id managers have certainly also devoted their minds, time, and energy to providing fundraising facilities that are able to meet the needs of many people. Wecare.id claim the Platform Fee is used for operational purposes, and the development of the site/application in fundraising. The research method used in this study is a descriptive method, which is a method that uses data obtained from the Wecare.id application by describing and analyzing the object under study as a whole. This research is qualitative research. This research uses the theory of social fundraising and the intercession agreement to identify the position of Wecare.id as a social institution, as well as the theory of ujrah (wages) and contracts related to it to understand the position of platform fees in sharia economic law In this study, complete data were obtained by researchers in fundraising campaigns on the Wecare.id application. The campaign created by a campaigner is entitled "Stretch Out Hands to Help Cianjur Victims" which targets to obtain funds of Rp. 100,000,000,-. Because there is a Platform Fee of 5%, Wecare.id stated directly on the campaign that the funds to be collected amounted to Rp. 105,000,000,-. However, after a few days, the campaign managed to collect Rp. 552,486,- which was obtained from 49 donors. So, if the campaigner wants to immediately disburse, then the funds that can be disbursed amount to Rp. 524,862 because the Platform Fee has been deducted 5% (Rp. 27,624). The Wecare.id application is an intermediary that connects donors with fundraisers. In sharia economic law the intercession is called wasatah and the perpetrator is referred to as wasit. The contracts that can be used by Wecare.id are ijarah , wakalah bil ujrah and ji’alah contracts which in practice require wages (ujrah). The Platform Fee set by Wecare.id can be categorized as a ujrah given by campaigners as a compensation fee to Wecare.id for their work helping to raise funds. The results of this study show that the determination of Platform Fees on Wecare.id application has met the terms and conditions of ujrah in Islam.
