Abstract

Students in tertiary institutions are prepared to have competencies and expertise that are in accordance with their educational background or major. To face the world of work, they must have a career plan in preparation for the era of society 5.0 and they have competencies according to their area of expertise. The purpose of this research is to find out the career challenges for students in the era of society 5.0, to find out the preparation of students to face the era of society 5.0, and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors faced in society 5.0 towards career preparation.This study used a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. The data was collected by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. Then the data obtained will be analyzed by interactive analysis using data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. As for checking the validity of the data using data triangulation including source triangulation where the author compares and re-checks information about student career plannings-i the final level is facing the era of society 5.0 in Islamic Guidance and Counseling students at UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The results of the study show that the preparation for career planning for final year students (S-I) are 1) The same career in the same place; 2) The same career in the different places; 3) Service sector; 4) Entrepreneur 5) Spiritual reinforcement; 6) Closer to family 7) Doing hobbies. They know what they have to do while they are still in college to face careers in the era of society 5.0, but they are reluctant or unwilling to carry out activities and routines that will support their future careers, students are more focused on completing their thesis.
