Abstract

Research on the analysis of total cadmium (Cd) metal levels in tilapia in Wadaslintang Reservoir using open wet destruction by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (SSA) has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to analyze the process of open wet destruction method with variations in destruction solution, and variations in the concentration of destruction solution in the analysis of Cd levels in tilapia by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (SSA). Another goal is to analyze the quality of cadmium (Cd) metal levels in tilapia according to SNI 7378: 2009 Maximum Limit of Metal Contamination in the Food category Fish as well as Processed Products. This type of research is carried out in an experimental laboratory including the stages, namely tilapia samples carried out in open wet destruction (hotplate) with variations of HNO3 and H2O2 destruction solutions (1:1); HNO3 and HClO4 (1:1). The best destruction solution variations are used to destruct samples using variations in the concentration of the destruction solution, namely 2M, 4M, and 6M. The best variations of solution and destruction solution concentrations are used to destruct samples using destruction temperature variations of 90oC; 100oC; 110oC; and 120oC. Tilapia samples are destroyed with the best variations, and then the results of the destruction are measured using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (SSA) instrument, and the results of cadmium (Cd) levels in tilapia samples are obtained. The results showed that tilapia samples were destruction using the open wet destruction method (hotplate) with the best destruction solution variations, namely HNO3 and HClO4 (1:1), the best destruction solution concentration variation was 2M, and the best destruction temperature variation was 110oC. The cadmium (Cd) metal levels in tilapia samples found in Wadaslintang Reservoir was 0.6973 mg/kg. These results are reinforced by precision tests, namely for repeatability %RSD ≤ 0.5 x CV Horwitz produced 5.30 ≤ 12.35 and for reproducibility %RSD ≤ 0.5 x CV Horwitz produced 5.30 ≤ 16.55 where the precision test has qualified. The quality of cadmium (Cd) metal levels in tilapia exceeds the maximum limit of cadmium (Cd) contamination in food according to SNI No. 7387: 2009 The Maximum Limit of Metal Contamination in Food in the Fish and Processed Products category is 0.1 mg/kg.
