Abstract

Acacia hybrid is the result of a cross between Acacia mangium and Acacia auriculiformis. This study aims to identify the morphology of acacia hybrid seedlings (Acacia mangium × Acacia auriculiformis) from natural crosses in hybrid seed orchard at three different flowering times and to determine the percentage of hybrids produces from three different flowering periods. The seeds used were the results of natural crosses at the 2nd (2014), 4th (2016), and 6th (2018). Parameters observed included germination rate, germination speed, number of sprouts/day, seedling sturdiness, stem height and diameter, leaf and stem morphology, and the percentage of hybrids produced. Based on the research results, it was found that the highest germination rate, germination speed, and sturdiness of acacia hybrid seedlings were harvested in 2018 (P2) and the lowest was harvested in 2014 (P2). In general, acacia hybrid seedlings have morphological characters, including the number of bi-pinnate leaves is less than 5, the number of pinnate less than 8, and has phyllode + 4-pinnate with three main veins. The percentage of hybrids resulting from three different flowering successively is 0% (2014), 3% (2014), and 3% (2016).
