Abstract

Development towards prisoners is an effort to restore their normal living patterns within society. Opportunities that they couldn't obtain outside can be ensured through the rehabilitation programs implemented during their detention. Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas IIB Yogyakarta, as one of the institutions working in this field, also applies two main forms of rehabilitation, namely personality development and skills training. From this description, this study aims to research how the rehabilitation and the factors that influence rehabilitation at Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas IIB Yogyakarta. This research is a descriptive-analytical field study aimed at describing the forms of prisoner rehabilitation implemented by the correctional institution. The primary data sources used in this research were obtained through direct interviews with drug-related prisoners and personnel at Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas IIB Yogyakarta. Based on the social concept, there are 4 (four) system models, namely the Pennsylvania System, the Auburn System, the Progressive System, and the Elmira System. Based on the implementation of personality development and independence of narcotics convicts at LPP Class IIB Yogyakarta, the progressive system system appears as the most ideal model with freedom in certain activities, more flexible division of rooms, and adjustments to the period of detention. However, there is a modification of the guidance carried out by LPP Class IIB Yogyakarta, namely integrating it with Law Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections. The development of narcotics convicts by LPP Class IIB Yogyakarta cannot be separated from factors in the form of adequate facilities, participation from all parties so that convicts' rights as women, especially physical health, can be fulfilled, implementation of the inmates' own obligations where convicts must comply with all prison rules without exception , and the environment where the inmates live after being released from prison.
