Abstract

Nurrohmah (19102020053), Individual Counseling for Handling Sexual Violence among Disabled People at the Sleman Community Health Center, Thesis, Yogyakarta: Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta. Recently, sexual violence has become widespread and even people with disabilities have become victims. The Sleman Community Health Center has innovated to develop counseling services to help victims overcome trauma and mental disorders through psychology and psychiatric units. The aim of this research is to find out and describe the stages of individual counseling services for dealing with sexual violence against people with disabilities at the Sleman Community Health Center. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with interview and documentation data collection methods. The subjects in this research were counselors with disabilities at the Sleman Community Health Center who had handled counseling with cases of sexual violence against people with disabilities. The results of this study indicate that there are three stages of individual counseling services used to deal with cases of sexual violence against persons with disabilities at the Sleman Health Center. The first stage is the initial stage which includes rapport building and problem identification. The second stage is the core stage which includes assessment and problem solving and the last stage is the evaluation and follow-up stage which includes a review of the results of the counseling that has been done and suggestions for follow-up that the client should do. The counseling method used in this study is client centered therapy, which focuses on the needs and experiences of the client. This conclusion provides a brief overview of how individual counseling can help disabled victims of sexual violence.
