Abstract

Students who are in college in general will certainly face academic related stress. This will certainly put students in a difficult situation in solving the problem they face. To deal with problems, students must have resilience in themselves to be able to survive in taking the problems they experience. Having high resilience in students certainly requires support from various parties to increase their resilience to face problem in the future. The purpose of this study was to determine wether or not there is a significant relationship between family support to academic resilience of Malaysian students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method, which is research that measures the relationship between one or more. The subjects taken in this research are as many as 32 Malaysian students because of barriers in term of material an differences in defferent educational backgrounds. So sampling conducted in this study using saturated samples. The data analysis used in this study is a correlational analysisof pearson product moment with the help of SPSS for windows. Based on the results of research conducted showed that there is significant positive relationship between family support to the academic resilience of Malaysian students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. With the evidence of the correlation coefficient value of 0,610, and the significant value of 0,000 < 0,05. It can be seen that, Malaysian students really need family support, both emotional encouragement, motivation, advice, self confidence and financial, so that students can be successful academically, then can finish their education and get a degree.
