Abstract

Overseas students are individuals who continue their education to tertiary institutions by leaving their home areas for a long time. In this overseas they are faced with various challenges and social roles in the process of adjustment. This study aims to determine the relationship between college belongingness and adjustment to overseas students in Yogyakarta. The method used in this research is correlational quantitative. Subjects participating in this study were 133 overseas students in Yogyakarta using snowball sampling and purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was performed using a simple linear regression analysis method. The results showed that the hypothesis was accepted, with a significant value of 0.00 (p <0.05). This indicates that there is a significant relationship between college belongingness and adjustment experienced by overseas students. Meanwhile, college belongingness makes a strong effective contribution to self-adjustment by 51.6% while 48.4% is influenced by other variables. This research can represent the condition of overseas students in Yogyakarta, so that the results of this research are expected to be a reference for evaluation for development for higher education institutions, overseas students and other parties.
