Abstract

Welak wua is a tradition that exists in Hamlet III as a form of appreciation for the ancestors and a form of community gratitude to the creator whose aim is to ensure that the community's harvest in the coming year will be better than previous years. In the welak wua tradition there are three forms of social capital, especially for the people of Hamlet III Location Baru. So the author is interested in researching this tradition by taking the title "Social capital in the welak wua tradition in the people of Hamlet III Location Baru, Labelen Village". This research aims to explain the forms of social capital that exist in the welak wua tradition. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The theory used in this research is Robert D Putnam's Social Capital. The research results show that there are three forms of social capital that exist in the welak wua tradition, including networks, trust and norms. Firstly, the network, researchers found that there is a strong network, which arises from the community because there is often community involvement in activities such as clean Fridays, mutual cooperation in building houses, cleaning roads, families giving birth, slametan the dead, slametan taking baby's hair. Second, a sense of trust. Researchers found that there was a sense of trust from the tribal chief, the welak wua ritual leader to the community by giving them the mandate to carry out their respective duties, such as assigning shopping for welak wua needs, inviting guests and receiving guests. Lastly, Norma. Researchers found one norm that exists in the welak wua tradition, namely the norm of politeness, which is a concrete application of the values of everyday life, such as the value of mutual cooperation, the value of solidarity, family values and reciprocity that exist in the welak wua tradition. These three forms of social capital can be summarized using Robert Putnam's concept, namely social capital. This concept can be found in the welak wua tradition with the pattern of habits of people whose lives are social, making their relationships very close to each other. Therefore, without realizing it, it is very easy for networks, beliefs and norms to emerge in the welak wua tradition.
