Abstract

The research aimed to find out 1) To find out the description of the parenting style of divorced parents in early childhood and 2) To find out the development of self-concept in early childhood in the parenting style of divorced parents. This research uses a qualitative type of research with a case study approach. The main informants or subjects in this research were three divorced parents and caregivers, three young children aged 4-6 years from divorced families, while the supporting informants were three class teachers. Researchers collected data using interviews, observation, and documentation. The researcher analyzed the data using the Miles and Huberman theory 1) Data collection using the Spiraling method (random) 2) Data condensation, selecting and classifying data according to the subject matter, and coding, 3) Data Presentation, presenting the topic as the focus and systematically describe the data that has been obtained based on the field, 3) Drawing conclusions, the researcher draws important points from the data that the researcher has obtained. Testing the validity of this research data uses diligent observation, triangulation (source and theory), member checking (checking data), and peer checking. The results of this research are the differences between positive parenting and low parenting depending on how parents handle post-divorce changes and conflicts. Interactions between parents and children are also divided into dissociative (split) in fatherless conditions and associative (cooperative) in co-parenting. Self-concept includes physical, psychological, social and moral aspects. A democratic (authoritative) parenting style tends to shape young children's self-concept well, while a permissive (permissive) parenting style contributes to poor early childhood self-concept. These findings provide insight into the complex relationship between divorced parents' parenting styles in the formation of early childhood self-concept.
