Abstract

This research aims to know user perceptions towards the interior design of the Central library of the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) in Yogyakarta. In this study, we used a quantitative describtive research type. The subject of this study was a users of the UII Central Library and the object of this research is the interior design of the UII Central Library. The population in this study was library members consisting of students, lecturers, and staff or employees totaling 26,331 members with a sample of 100 respondents using the slovin formula. The data collection techniquies in this study uses observational, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. This data analysis used the mean and grean mean formulas. Then, the results of the study showed that the user's perception of the interior design of the UII Central Library include very good with a score of 3.42. The result of the space sub variable with an average result of 3,46 are very good category. The result of the coloring sub variabel with an average result of 3,47 are very good category. The result of the lighting sub variabel with an average result of 3,31 are very good category. The result of the air circulation sub variabel with an average result of 3,44 are very good category. The result of the acoustic system sub variabel space with an average result of 3,44 are very good category. From these results, the researchers suggests the need for research at the UII Central Library that correlates between interior design and other variables. For example, the correlation between interior design and the level of reading comfort, interior design and the level of interest rates, interior design and the level of user satisfaction, interior design and the level of learning effectiveness and the like.
