Abstract

ABSTRAK Siti Umi Hani (2008). PEMANFAATAN JURNAL ELEKTRONIK SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR MAHASISWA DI UPT PERPUSTAKAAN UNIVERSITAS NEGERI YOGYAKARTA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan jurnal elektronik sebagai sumber belajar mahasiswa di UPT Perpustakaan UNY. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan subjek penelitian pengguna UPT Perpustakaan UNY yang dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa. Untuk memperoleh data yang valid, penulis menggunakan beberapa teknik pengumpulan data yaitu, observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara, dan angket. Hasil dari penelitian secara keseluruhan adalah sebagian besar mahasiswa atau 70% sering memanfaatkan jurnal elektronik setiap kali berkujung ke perpustakaan, sedangkan 50% mahasiswa menyatakan bahwa dalam satu minggu lebih dari empat hari berkunjung ke perpustakaan untuk memanfaatkan jurnal elektronik. Kendala dalam pemanfaatan jurnal elektronik adalah minimnya jurnal elektronik yang tersedia di perpustakaan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna, sebesar 52% mahasiswa menyatakan hanya sebagian kecil cakupan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan sumber belajar mahasiswa. Sedangkan 63% mahasiswa menyatakan bahwa mereka selalu mengalami kesulitan saat memanfaatkan jurnal elektronik berbahasa asing, hal ini menyebabkan sebanyak 58% mahasiswa sering mengurungkan niat untuk memanfaatkan jurnal elektronik sebagai sumber belajar. Kelengkapan fasilitas pencarian temu kembali informasi, 76% mahasiswa menyatakan sangat lengkap, tetapi 78% mahasiswa menyatakan bahwa jumlahnya masih belum sebanding dengan jumlah pengguna perpustakaan. Pada aspek sumber belajar sebesar 64% mahasiswa menyatakan bahwa buku teks selalu yang pertamakali dicari untuk mendukung sumber belajar mahasiswa dan 56% mahasiswa menyatakan bahwa buku teks sebagai sumber belajar yang selalu dijadikan rujukan. This study aims to examine the use of electronic journals as learning resource for student at the Library of UNY. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with the users of the library in UNY treated as the subject of research. To get valid data, the researcher uses several techniques of data collection: observation, documentation, interview and questionnaire. The result of the study reveals that in general, view of the students of UNY 70% have frequenly used the electronic journals during their visit to the library and 50% of them have stated that more than 4 times a week they visit the library to use the electronic journals. The obstacle found in the use of such journals is the availability of electronic journals that is less in number than what is needed by the users. It is reported that 52% of student respondents admitted that only a small scope of the journals fulfill their needs of learning resources. 63% of the students claimed that they encountered difficulty when they were using electronic journals published in foreign language. Due to this problem, as much as 58% of the students have often chosen not to use electronic journals as learning resources. On the availability of information-recalling-search facilities, 76% of the students stated that the facilities are very sufficient, but 78% of them claimed that the number of the facilities haven't complied the number of the users of the libraryed. In terms of the aspect of learning resources, 64% of the students said that text books have always been the first priority to be used as learning resources, and 56% of them said that the text books are always preferred as learning resources.
