Abstract

Decision making is an identification of existing alternatives to be chosen appropriately, based on values and goals of an individual to find solution of problem faced in foreign exchange market with resistance and risk as minimum as possible. The variable of decision making in this study marked by obtained information, intuition power and alternative solution. The aim of this research was to examine the correlation between emotion regulation and decision making upon transaction in foreign exchange market on trader. The independent variable was emotion regulation whereas dependent variable was decision making. Population in this study are foreign exchange traders in Indonesia with following criteria; age of eighteen or above, had an experience at least one year in using one analysis method and having real account either paid by their own fund or other’s. Sample in this study are 316 trader. The scales used were Regulation Emotion scale and Decision Making scale. The analysis method was product moment by using SPSS 15.0 for Windows. The results showed that there was a significantly positive correlation between regulation emotion and decision making upon transaction in foreign exchange market on trader with coefficient correlation (rxy) at 0,751 and p = 0,000 (p < 0.05). This means the higher emotion regulation capability, the better decision making can be made by the traders. Conversely, the lower emotion regulation capability, the worse decision making of the traders. The results showed also that effective contribution 56,3% from emotion regulation influence decision making.
