Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is any difference in the ability of information literacy among students of Teacher Education Government Elementary School and Library Science force in 2012 UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta using standard The Big6 model consists of six stages, namely the definition of tasks, strategies for information,location and access, use information, synthesis and evaluation. This study uses aquantitative descriptive approach. The populationin this study were all students of Library Science and Teacher Education students of Government Elementary School class of 2012 UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta as many as 159 people. The sampling technique used in this study is a random sampling techniques. The sample in this study as many as 40 people. The data collection is done by using questionnaires, observation, interviews and documentation. This includes analysis of the instruments on the validity and reliability. While the analysis of data using testing techniques distinction Independent Samplet-test. The results showed: 1) The ability of information literacy Government Elementary School Teacher Education students categorized as good with an average value of 3.25. The highest value on the task definition phase of 3.5 and the lowest value at the synthesis stage by 2.98. 2) The ability of the information literacy of students of Library Science categorized as good with an average value of 3.21. The highest value on the task definition phase of 3.62 and the lowest value at the synthesis stage by 2.95. Having to test hypotheses generated index difference (t) by 0.807 with asignificant level of 0.425, due to the significant level of 0.425>0.05,these results indicate that there are no differences in the ability of information literacy among students of Government Elementary School Student Teacher Education and Library Science. It can be concluded that Hois accepted and Harejected.
