Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the state of the librarian’s social skill, the user interests, and the significant influence of the Librarian’s Social Skill Towards the user interests to visit Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Yogyakarta’s Library. This research was a quantitative descriptive with two variables which are independent variable (librarian’s social skill) and dependent variable (the user interests). Some methods used to gather the data were observation, interview, and questioners with 84 samples of total 696 populations. The samples were taken in the research used accidental sampling, means the samples were taken randomly. In this research, the data were processed using SPSS version 23 for windows. Then, the data were analyzed using formulas of mean, grand mean, product mean correlation, and also simple linear regression in order to collect qualitative result. The result of the analysis showed that the state of librarian’s social skill at MAN Yogyakarta’s library was included into the fair category and the user interests were included into the high category. There was also the significant influence between the X variable which is the independent variable (librarian’s social skill) and the Y variable which is the dependent variable (library user interests) that was shown with the coefficient values determination (R2) of this research about 0,224 and the probability value or the significance was about 0,000. From those result the researcher expected that in the future the librarians of MAN 1 Yogyakarta will be able to develop their capabilities on social skill in order to give the best service to the library users so that the interest of visiting the library will increase as well.
