Abstract

This research is aimed to know the roles that provided by Widodomartani village library to the Widodomartani community in lifelong education. In this research, the writer believes that the library is the source of informaleducation or lifelong education for people that is not limited by time, age and social condition. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of the research are the head of library, librarians and community users. The object of this research is the role of Widodomartani’s library towards informal education.Data collection in this research uses several methods, such observation method, interview method and documentation method. Data analysis process in this research uses Miles and Huberman’s model,they are data reduction, data display and verification. While, for the data validity technique is done by credibility test consist of extension of observation, triangulation, reference material and membercheck.The results of this research shows that Widodomartani’s library has role in 1) Place for lifelong education with self-study, that is: the public can learn and dig knowledge independently by using on-site collection and training activities as well as book analysis that provided by the library, 2) Information source compiler such as: books, journals, e-books and educational aids that can be used by surrounding communities , 3) Countryside’s library developer under the region of the Widodomartani village, and 4) develops an interest reading through a travelling library service.
