Abstract

This research aims to know the level of benefit of Digital Library at Faculty of Engineering, Gadjah Mada University that to fulfill the information needs of library users using the Usability Testing approach. This research is quantitative descriptive study with the subject of this research is the user of the Faculty of Engineering who use digital information material with the total is 12.666. The object of this research is the benefits of digital library in Faculty of Engineering. The data collection methods of this research are questionnare, interview, observation, and documentation. The population of this research is student that use digital collection in Faculty of Engineering Digital Library. The population is taken sample based on Slovin formula and is obtained sample of 100 users from the total of sample. The sampling methods of this study is purposive sampling. The variable of this research is single variable which benefit of Digital Library at Faculty of Engineering, Gadjah mada University that to fulfill the information needs of users. The measurement of the benefit of digital library based on ISO 9241-11 that consist of three components, they are effectivity, efficiency, and satisfaction. The result of this research that is calculated by using Mean and Grand Mean formulas earned the score of 3,042 with “good” category. As for details of each indicator that is the indicator of effectiveness earned score of 3,045 with “good” category, the efficiency earned score of 3,131 with “good” category, adn the satisfaction earned score of 2,951 with “good” category. Based on the calculation using the formulas scale such intervals, that can be seen benefit of Digital Library at Faculty of Engineering, Gadjah Mada University that to fulfill the information needs of library users using the Usability Testing approach is quite good. The results of the study provide recommendations to the UGM Faculty of Engineering to provide and promote digital information materials so that the fulfillment of information needs of users can be maximized.
