Abstract

This study aims to determine how information literacy skills of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University students with The Big6 model. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this research are students of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University amounting 21619 students. The sample in this research amounting 100 respondent taken based on Yamane formula with incidental sampling technique. Variable in this research are single variable that is translated into 6 sub variables. The validity instrument test uses Product Moment formula and reliability instrument test uses Alpha Cronbach, with calculation uses SPSS versi 23.0 for windows program. The analysis data uses Mean and Grand mean formula, to conclude the research result uses Interval Scale. The results of this study is indicate that the overall of the information literacy skills of students of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University with grand mean 3,20 categorized to good. Information literacy of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University students in task definition with grand mean 3,17 categorized to good, information seeking strategies with grand mean 3,30 categorized to wonderful, location and access with grand mean 3,12 categorized to good, use of information with grand mean 3,30 categorized to wonderful, synthesis with grand mean 3,25 categorized to good, and in terms of evaluation with grand mean 3.07 categorized to good. In evaluating of information, students of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University need to re-evaluate the information which obtained from various sources that exist and it is suggested to the library more optimizing the socialization activites about the use of Turnitin to increase students the awareness of students to continue to check compiled scientific works so as to avoid acts of plagiarism, while in problem formulation, searching for sources of information, finding and accessing, the utilization of information and synthesis should be further improved in the ability to make better and more skilled.
