Abstract

Social media can be placed to express feeling or opinion. Many netizens can write their comments without filter. Social media is initially used to communicate, now it is used to sneer and spread hatred. People express swearing in the comment field on Instagram account. This research aims to know references of swearing which used by netizen in the comments of Instagram. The data is obtained in the swearing in comment field on Justin Bieber‟s Instagram account. Justin Bieber is a International singer who has many followers. A public figure always has fans and also haters. Haters usually give bad comments. Those comments are analyzed in this research. The researcher uses qualitative research as the method of research. The theory is proposed by Wijana and Montagu related to references of swearing. The researcher employs random sampling as collecting data. The data are collected since July until September 2018. After analyzing data, the researcher finds 91 data of swearing.
