Abstract

This research is motivated by extracurricular activities that have become the school's brand image. Muhammadiyah 3 Middle School Depok Sleman DI Yogyakarta is a private school that is widely known to the public because of its extracurricular activities that have gained many achievements, both at the district, provincial and national levels up to the international level, so that the achievements are attractive for the community send their children to school at Muhammadiyah Middle School 3 Depok Sleman DI Yogyakarta. This study uses qualitative research, the subject and object of research are principals, teachers and some students, and some parents. In collecting research data using the method of observation, documentation, and interviews. Then analyze the data by reducing data, presenting data that has been collected, and drawing conclusions. Finally, test the validity of the data using the technique of triangulation and source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that: 1) The profile of the quality of education of Muhammadiyah 3 Depok Sleman Yogyakarta DI Yogyakarta can be seen in terms of accreditation, student learning output and achievement of extracurricular activities. a) Accreditation, accredited A with a value of 96.00. b) In terms of output student learning outcomes have not been very satisfyin. c) Extracurricular achievements. The school has students who have various abilities at the district, provincial and even national and international levels. 2) The extracurricular activity program at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok includes: a) the existence of extracurricular activities is planned at the beginning of the new school year. b) Implementation of extracurricular activities in SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok is grouped into two namely compulsory extracurricular and optional extracurricular activities. d) Evaluation of extracurricular activities is carried out every three months. Things that are evaluated include targets that have been x set. 3) The principal's strategy in improving the quality of education through extracurricular activities is carried out with several strategies, namely: a) Collaborating with external parties who have the carrying capacity to develop extracurricular activities. b) Conduct purely interest-based extracurricular activities. c) Arrange achievement targets by having work in each field. d) Following the existing competitions. 4) supporting factors in extracurricular activities are adequate facilities and infrastructure, competent students, and sufficiently professional teachers. While the inhibiting factor is due to time constraints that are only 2 hours a week, and some extras are difficult to find competitions that are appropriate to the type of extracurricular interests of students.
