Abstract

Nowadays it's easy to find married working women. Decision making to work for married women creates a situation where women are vulnerable to feeling marital dissatisfaction and ineffective interpersonal communication, due to the division of time in work and household. This study aims to determine the relationship between interpersonal communication on marital satisfaction of working women in DIY. The subjects of this study were 200 working women. The sampling technique in the study used a nonprobability Convenience sampling technique. Data collection was carried out with two instruments namely the marriage satisfaction scale referring to Saxton's theory (1986) with a reliability of 0.911 and an interpersonal communication scale referring to Devito's theory (1997) with a reliability of 0.861. The method of data analysis uses Pearson product moment correlation analysis. The results showed that interpersonal communication was positively related to marital satisfaction. This is indicated by the correlation value (R) of 0.510 with significance (p) = 0.00 (p ˂ α = 0.05), in Pearson product moment correlation testing, meaning that the more effective interpersonal communication in working women, the higher marriage satisfaction. Interpersonal communication contributes effectively R square = 0.260 or 26% to marital satisfaction in working women.
