Abstract

This study aims to determine the search engine usage influence on information literacy ability of IX grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Donorojo based on Empowering Eight model. This research using descriptive quantitative method with questionnaire. While, the data measurement using likert scale with four option of answer. The data analysist using mean, grand mean and simple regression analysist. The result of this research showed that grand mean score at 3,10 level is on the > 2,51 – 3,25 interval, which mean the search engine usage in “baik” category. The information literacy ability of IX grade students SMP Negeri 1 Donorojo grand mean score at 3,13 level is on > 2,51 – 3,25 interval, which mean in “baik” category. So, the r square is 24,5%, which mean there is a good influence by the search engine usage on the information literacy ability of IX grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Donorojo. While, the rest of the information literacy ability is influencing by the other variable. Through this research, SMP Negeri 1 Donorojo expected to familiarize the using of the features in the Google search engine and to multiply “literasi sekolah” programe so that the students could apply the information in the learning activity.
