Abstract

Internet brought a development on human life. On communication, internet make people easier to contact another people around the word. On game, internet bring up online game, one of them is a game called FGO. This game is one of top game in the world seen from income FGO get. This game is a game from japan and off course use japan language even there is so many players form outside of the japan, one of them is in Indonesia. Because of the language problem player from Indonesia is making a group to share information about this game and chatting each other. From that’s background researcher interesting in researching group communication on group FGO Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to see how the group communication that happened in the virtual community in the social media discord. The name of the virtual community in this study is FGO Indonesia in social media discord. The explanation in this study will used description method, and the primary data that used is interview and the secondary data that used is observation. The method that used in this study is netnography that classified as qualitative. The qualitative analysis is carried out by interpreting group communication which can be seen from the function of the group and the characteristic of the virtual community that can be found in each group function. From the research results showed that in the group FGO Indonesia has happened group communication, that can be seen from what group FGO Indonesia fulfill the functions groups that exist. Group FGO Indonesia also categorized as a virtual community since this group meet the characteristic of virtual community. For the group communication in the virtual community can be seen from how each group function have fulfilled the characteristic of virtual community. The group communication that happened is this group is a discussion about a event that is running now, event that will came, and how to clear a quest.
