Abstract

This reserach aims to determine the concept of library from Senartogok's song "Perpustakaan Jalanan" through Roland Barthes' semiotic perspective. This research is a descriptive qualitative type that uses data in the form of the song lyrics This research uses the Roland Barthes semiotics. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation and literature study. The research source used primary data from the song "Perpustakaan Jalanan" by Senartogok. Meanwhile, secondary data sources in this study are any documents related to the song "Perpustakaan Jalanan" in the form of articles, social media, web pages, zines and so on. Data processing was carried out by using Roland Barthes' semiotic model. The results of this study are: libraries that were born due to concerns about the culture of fondness for reading which is increasingly fading and starting to be abandoned, libraries which aim to provide alternative learning facilities by facilitating access to reading books in public spaces for the general public, especially for the lower middle class people who have not have the opportunity to visit the library, the library strives to make use of the available public space to be more useful for the surrounding community, the library carries out operational activities in public spaces (sidewalks, squares, or city park) and the operational time is usually in the afternoon until evening, the types of collections owned by the library are diverse, and the library provides photocopy services for the collections. Suggestions from this study: through the song "Perpustakaan Jalanan" by Senartogok, it is hoped that the general public will be more familiar with libraries, in this case it is a street library that is different from libraries in general and it is hoped that research on songs in the Department of Library Science will bring new variations to this department.
