Abstract
This study aims to describe and analyze disaster mitigation efforts in protecting archives at the Library and Archives Office of Gunungkidul Regency. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The technique of determining the informants of this study used purposive sampling by taking six informants of the Library and Archives Office of Gunungkidul Regency based on the criteria for research informants. Research methods to collect data in this study include observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis using data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results showed that the disaster mitigation efforts carried out by the Library and Archives Office of Gunungkidul Regency included socialization about saving archives, anticipating or taking preventive action before a disaster occurred, planning in handling the rescue of archives from disasters, conducting technical training for employees, forming an information system, and integrated communication. As for things that have not been implemented, namely forming an archive rescue team from disaster and collaborating with other agencies located far from disasters. In addition, the inhibitting factor in disaster mitigation efforts is human resources and budget issues. Therefore, the solution given is through recruitment of human resources and budget proposal.
