Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the behavior of Arabic Language and Literature Students in searching for information on Arabic literature in the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive. The data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data modeling and conclusions. Based on the results of the research, the behavior of Arabic Language and Literature Students in information search was carried out through several stages in accordance with Marchionini's theory, namely recognizing and accepting information problems, defining and understanding the information to be searched for, selecting information systems, formulating keywords, evaluating the information that has been obtained and ends with iterate / stop. The less-traveled stages are conducting in-depth searches and verifying search results. In typing keywords, the informant uses the Arabic-Latin transliteration system and the key words that all informants use are the key words through the title. One of the difficulties faced by informants in searching for Arabic literature information is that they cannot determine the right transliteration in the use of keywords because of the limited knowledge of users in understanding the search for Arabic literature information on the OPAC.
