Abstract

The background of this research is based on the phenomenon of the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia which has resulted in changes in the structure of people's lives in all sectors, including the education sector. One of the efforts to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus by the government through the Ministry of Education is by changing the face-to-face learning process in schools to distance learning or Learning From Home (BDR). So that learning communication that is usually carried out in schools with the support of other supporting facilities has now turned into online learning communication through the media of cellphones, tablets, and laptops with supporting applications, namely WhatsApp in the form of video calls, voice messages, photos and simulation videos. The teacher as a facilitator must be able to create effective online learning communication. For this reason, a communication pattern is needed in the learning process to develop quality learning and overcome the problems above. The purposes of this study are: (1) analyzing communication patterns in the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic, (2) analyzing quality learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, (3) analyzing the development of communication patterns in realizing quality learning, (4) the impact of communication in the quality learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is a case study research with qualitative methods. The data collection methods are observation, interview, and documentation. Data processing and data analysis by performing data reduction and then drawing conclusions. The results of this study are: (1) the implementation of communication in the learning process 2021. The results of this study are: (1) the implementation of communication in the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic uses a one-way, two-way, and many-way pattern through online learning methods with learning media via video call, voice messages, photos and simulation videos, (2) TK Negeri 6 Pekanbaru cannot carry out learning in schools, media and student activities are limited, the learning climate is less conducive and the learning outcomes of students are less than optimal and insignificant. So that the communication of teachers and students in the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic is not sufficient to be able to build a quality learning process, (3) developing communication patterns in realizing quality learning is to form effective communication by involving learning components. The three communication patterns are used in combination in the learning process to create changes in knowledge, behavior, and mutual understanding between teachers and students because the three communication patterns have different colors and shapes in the learning process, (4) The impact of communication between teachers and students The learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic was also felt by students, teachers and parents. Students feel bored, lack the motivation to learn, lack selfdiscipline, aspects of child development are not optimal and children play cellphones more often. Teachers are not free to monitor children's growth and development, teachers have to be flexible when doing video calls, and it is difficult to make assessments of children's growth and development and the relationship between teachers and parents will be even tighter. Can train parents to be patient in dealing with and teach their children and the relationship between parents and children becomes closer because children are always accompanied by their parents in learning.
