Abstract

The Arabic book for madrasah aliyah published by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020 is a master book for learning Arabic published by the Ministry of Religion following the ratification of KMA Number 183 of 2019. This research aims to determine the construction of material for Arabic text books published by the Ministry of Religion in 2020 in terms of HOTS theory as well as describing HOTS content level on the book material. This research is a library research (library research) with a qualitative descriptive approach. The primary data source in this study is the Arabic language book Madrasah aliyah published by the Ministry of Religion in 2020. Meanwhile, the secondary data sources in this study are scientific articles, books, and documents related to the theory of higher order thingking skills (HOTS). The data collection technique in this study is a documentation technique which is done by reading, taking notes, and reviewing a number of literatures. The data analysis technique of this research uses content analysis. Meanwhile, the data validity technique was done by using semantic validity and checking the stability and reproducibility. The results of this study indicate that the construction of material in the Arabic language book Madrasah aliyah published by the Ministry of Religion in terms of HOTS's perspective has emphasize students for the process of analyzing (C4) in higher-order thinking skills. The analysis level consists of the process of differentitating, organizing and attributing. At a differentiating level, Arabic book material can guide students in selecting relevant information that can be used to find concepts. As for the organizational level, the material in Arabic books requires students to find linkages (relationships) between information and group them based on certain criteria to find concepts. While at the attributing level, Arabic book material can guide students to determine the meaning or purpose of a symbol, operation, or problem presented to find new information. The highest level of HOTS content in the Arabic book Madrasah aliyah published by the Ministry of Religion in 2020 is in the class Arabic book, followed by Arabic books for class X and finally Arabic books for class XII. Class XI Arabic books provide more material for language skills that stimulate students' high order thinking skills in the Arabic learning process.
