Abstract

This thesis discusses what factors have caused the low participation of the Muslim community in Yogyakarta in adopting Islamic banking. The low desire of the Muslim community to become a customer of Islamic banks is an important note to research, in order to find a solution so that the power of the Muslim community to become a customer of Islamic banks is better and increases. The subject of this research is the Muslim community in Yogyakarta who are not customers of Islamic banks. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. The technique of collecting data using accidental sampling method, the determination of the sample using the Slovin formula. The instrument of this research is to distribute questionnaires to the Muslim community who are not customers of Islamic banks as many as 100 respondents. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression, then the data is processed using SPSS version 18 software. The results of this study indicate that the multiple linear regression results of the knowledge variable have a negative effect on the decision of the Muslim community not to become a customer of Islamic banks. Meanwhile, the profit sharing variable, service quality, promotion, location and perception did not have a negative effect on the decision of the Muslim community not to become a customer of Islamic banks. This can happen because many Muslim communities use rational and emotional decisions to not choose Islamic banking services. Where the Muslim community acts according to a healthy and reasonable mind as measured by convenience, price, reliability, profit, based on objective considerations such as self-esteem, which is measured by social status, pride, comfort and security.
