Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study are: 1). How is the use of social media in the Info Cegatan Jogja (ICJ) group through the Facebook platform? 2). What are the factors that support the use of social media in the Info Cegatan Jogja (ICJ) group through the Facebook platform? 3). What are the advantages and disadvantages of using social media in the Info Cegatan Jogja (ICJ) group through the Facebook platform?. This study aims to describe the utilization, supporting factors, and the advantages and disadvantages of using social media in the Info Cegatan Jogja (ICJ) group through the Facebook platform. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. In this study, the data collection method used by the researcher is moderate observation method, semi-structured interview method, and documentation method. Determination of informants using purposive sampling technique. The informants in this study were Yanto Sumantri as the creator of the ICJ Facebook group and 20 members of the ICJ Facebook group who were selected using inclusion criteria in the form of active, willing, and naturally answering questions. Data analysis in this study used data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model, namely through the process of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the research that researchers got were: 1). The use of social media in the ICJ group through the Facebook platform is carried out by exchanging intercept information with a combination of posts and comment fields to help each other. Indirectly, the use of social media in the ICJ group on the Facebook platform is in line with the concept of Community of Practice. 2). The supporting factors for the use of social media in the ICJ group through the Facebook platform are the characteristics and functions of Facebook's social media, namely: reach, accessibility, usability, immediacy, and permanence; sharing function and group function. 3). The advantages of using social media in the ICJ group through the Facebook platform are to present: a). Updated information, b). varied and concise language, c). Information sharing forum, d). Broad coverage, e). Information that comes from the source, and f). Creating social awareness. The disadvantages of using social media in the ICJ group through the Facebook platform are: a). Waiting for ACC admin, b). Information is still ambiguous, incomplete, and prone to hoaxes, c). Too much information, d). Bullying and information ethics event. Based on the findings of the researchers, the researchers provided inputs: 1). Regulations are needed so that there are not too many spam comments or suggestions, so that the discussion process and exchange of information in the comments column will be more effective. 2). Beware of cybercrime in using Facebook. 3). Try to find reference references to avoid hoaxes and lead to public opinion.
