Abstract

Shrimp is one of the products that is widely consumed throughout the world, so it has a big influence on the export value of Indonesia. In 2018, Indonesia was ranked fourth as the largest shrimp exporting country in the world. The purpose of this study was to see how much the competitiveness of Indonesia's shrimp commodity exports to the largest importing trading partner countries. The competitiveness measuring instrument used in this study is Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). In addition, there are also variables of shrimp production, population, inflation rate and exchange rate. The research method used is the panel data regression analysis method with a random effect model estimation using panel data from the 8 largest importing countries from 2009 to 2018. Based on the RCA value from 2009 to 2018, the development of the competitiveness of Indonesian shrimp in the largest importing trading partners tends to be is volatile. The results showed that simultaneously or together all variables have a significant effect on the export value of Indonesian shrimp. While partially the RCA index variable and shrimp production have a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, the population population, inflation rate, and exchange rate variables do not have a significant effect.
