Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe The Content of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Arabic Language Textbook Exercises at Seventh Grade of Islamic Junior Highschool Kemenag RI 2020. This study used a qualitative approach to content analysis. The data sources or documents analyzed in this study were The Exercises of Arabic Language Textbook at Seventh Grade of Islamic Junior High School Kemenag RI 2020. The techniques used in data collection in this study are reading, understanding and recording that are accurate and using instruments in the form of a document analysis framework or content analysis. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitative. Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) has several indicators; Analyze, Evaluate, and Create. Besides HOTS, there is also the term LOTS (Lower-Order Thinking Skill) which has an indicator; Remember, Understand, and Apply. In this thesis, the researcher analyzes the HOTS indicators contained in Arabic language textbook, Islamic Junior Highschool Kemenag RI 2020. HOTS in the practice section of questions amounted to 42.25% This percentage was obtained from the number of practice questions contained in 6 chapters analyzed from 142 practice questions and the practice section which included HOTS was 60 practice questions
