Abstract

Childhood is a period that is very sensitive to changes in behavior. Changes in children's behavior depend on their response to the soap operas they watch. In this study, the main problem was whether there was an influence of soap operas “Dari Jendela SMP” on the development of children's behavior in Ncera Village, Belo District, Bima Regency. This soap opera is in great demand by all circles and many of its shows are assumed to have an effect on behavior change in children. This study aims 1) To find out children's responses about the soap opera "Dari Jendela SMP" which aired on SCTV, 2) To find out the behavior of children after watching the soap opera "Dari Jendela SMP" 3) To find out how much influence the soap opera "Dari Jendela SMP" has on development child behavior. The research method used is a quantitative method. Respondents in this study were children in Ncera Village, Belo District, Bima Regency, including 10-14 years old. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling, namely by using the solvin formula. The sample used in this study amounted to 171 respondents who watched the soap opera "Dari Jendela SMP". Data was collected by means of observation and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis using percentages and frequencies to determine the character of each respondent and inferential statistical analysis with simple linear regression analysis and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Based on the results of data on children's responses to the soap opera "Dari Jendela SMP" according to 72 respondents, it was stated to be quite strong, because based on the interpretation, a value of 41% showed that the child's response to the soap opera program "Dari Jendela SMP" was negative and it is included in the category is quite strong. 2) Children's behavior after watching soap operas shows that they have proven to have changes because from the results of respondents' answers, it shows that from 171 children agree to follow the behavior in soap operas by 42% of respondents, both in terms of knowledge and behavior. The changes in children's behavior apart from the influence of soap operas are also caused by parent or family factors and the child's environment. 3) Based on the calculation results, it is shown from the t-test results that the significant value is 0.000 <0.05, namely 0.000 <0.662. The results of the coefficient of determination show that the negative influence of soap operas on changes in children's behavior in Ncera Village, Belo District, Bima Regency after watching the soap opera "Dari Jendela SMP" is 0.518 or 51% while the remaining 49% is caused by other variables outside the variables studied
