Abstract

This study aims to develop a picture book of media’s learning to stimulate children in knowing the local culture, testing and analyzing the feasibility of the product and also knowing the child's assessment. This type of research is research and development (R&D), while data collection uses interview, documentation, and questionnaire instruments, then analyzed with quantitative and also qualitative data conversion to provide a conclusion in the study. The picture book learning media provides stimulation to children by means of the child recognizing the 6 sub themes presented in the picture book learning media. Achievement indicators are adjusted to the Aceh curriculum in the Al-Azhar Islamic KB-TK school in Cairo, Banda Aceh. This development is based on the Research and Development research model according to Thiagarajan (4D), while the steps are defining, designing, developing, and Disseminating. The results of the development of picture book learning media through product validity trials, revisions, and product user trials. Based on these results in general the picture book learning media is appropriate to be used as a learning medium to stimulate children in knowing the local culture. This is based on the content validity score of the content / material 100% (Very Eligible), the validity of the media expert product 96% (Very Eligible) and the validity of the cultural expert 96% (Very Eligible), while the results of the assessment of small-scale trial children are 3.9 (good) and large-scale trials 4,6 (Very Good). So it can be concluded that the instructional media for picture books with the theme of Aceh culture is very suitable as a learning media to stimulate children in knowing the local culture.
