Abstract

This study contains the problems of circulation services during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Sleman Regional Library and Archives Service. The purpose of this study was to find out how the implementation of circulation service activities during the covid-19 pandemic at the Regional Library and Archives Service, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. Then to find out the problems and provide efforts for the Sleman Library in overcoming problems in circulation service activities that took place during the covid-19 pandemic at the Sleman Regional Library and Archives Service. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection methods and techniques used include observation, interviews and documentation. Test the validity of the data using triangulation and membercheck. The data analysis technique uses the theory of Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusions or verification. To determine the informants, used purposive sampling technique. The results of the study stated that the Sleman Regional Library and Archives Service, in the context of responding to COVID-19, changed its service system from an open system (open access) to a closed system (close access). The library also issued several policies to prevent the Covid-19 virus chain, including changes in circulation service procedures, changes to shorter service opening hours, making Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for library visitor arrivals, procurement of health protocol facilities, restrictions on library facilities and infrastructure, etc. The problems faced by the Sleman Regional Library and Archives Service in library circulation services during the COVID-19 pandemic include; the fear of librarian at the beginning of the pandemic, the decrease in visitors, the librarian has limited human resources and extra work, visitors cannot freely enjoy library infrastructure and not all visitors know the new procedures and mechanisms. The library's efforts include; adding library staff, upgrading e-book services, increasing support and cooperation, providing excellent service to visitors and continuing socialization of new procedures and mechanisms.
