Abstract

Perception is defined as a cognitive process whereby an individual selects, organizes, and interpret to environmental stimulus. Through perception, individuals try to rationalize the environment and the objects, people and events in it, because people have their own understanding of the stimulus, and every individual will "perceive" the same thing with "different ways/points of view".5 The spread of covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has a major impact on the learning process. Online learning is the best way to be implemented during the pandemic, including online learning of Arabic subject in term of breaking the chain of covid-19 transmission in school. The implementation of online Arabic learning is a method for both teachers and students, that may cause various perceptions. This study is referred to the perception of students on the implementation of online Arabic learning. This research is a kind of quantitative descriptive with a survey method, which aims to describe students' perceptions of online Arabic learning during the COVID-19 pandemic at Abdurrab Islamic School Pekanbaru. The research sample was taken from a population of 96 male students in class VIII. The data collection technique used a questionnaire distributed through Google Form. Based on the whole study results, it can be concluded that the perception of class VIII students on online Arabic subjects during the Covid-19 pandemic at Abdurrab Islamic School Pekanbaru 2020/2021 include to the very positive category with a percentage of 5.20% or 5 people, the positive category with a percentage of 24% or 23 people, the medium category with a percentage of 42.70% or 41 people, a negative category with a percentage of 18.8% or 18 people, and a very negative category with a percentage of 9.40% or 9 people. So it can be concluded that students' perceptions of learning Arabic by online during the COVID-19 pandemic at Abdurrab Islamic School Pekanbaru 2020/2021 is classified as medium category
