Abstract

Based on the literature on language skills and fine motor skills of children at the Pembina Peureulak State Kindergarten. It was found that the children's learning activities which were usually implemented in the school used the demonstration method with the use of simple teaching aids. This causes children to experience less improvement in their language skills and fine motor skills. This is what causes researchers to be interested in studying more deeply so that children can improve their language and fine motor skills by applying the letter pocket media. This study uses a case study where the subjects of this research are teachers and children in Peureulak State Kindergarten. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data collection techniques using data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The number of respondents in this study involved six teachers, namely the principal and teachers at the Pembina Peureulak State Kindergarten. This study shows that: (1) There is an increase in children's language skills and fine motor skills after applying pocket letter media, namely children can recognize letters, name letters, write, order words, color and draw. (2) The application of letter pocket media is able to make children active, motivated and not bored during learning. (3) The positive impact for teachers is being able to apply effective learning media using pocket letter media, the negative impact for teachers is limitations in the learning process activities so that learning is not effective for improving children's language and fine motor skills, the positive impact for children is active and enthusiastic following learning using pocket letter media, the negative impact for children is that children are only focused on by the teacher during learning activities.
