Abstract

Mergers and acquisitions are often preferred methods for economic expansion. This is done because it provides opportunities for better corporate growth. Merger and acquisition decisions can help companies to improve their performance and value. Corporate performance doesn’t fall off the top manager or can be called the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO’s characteristics are crucial to the company’s decision making. This is the basis for research purposes to know the impact of gender and CEO educational backgrounds that will be moderated by the age, tenure and board size for both mergers and acquisitions in Indonesia. This kind of research is quantitative by testing using multiple regression analysis techniques. The results of this study suggest that the gender of the female CEO and the CEO's educational background have no effect on the performance of mergers and acquisitions. While the CEO's age, CEO’s Tenure and board size can moderate the CEO's gender relationship towards the performance of mergers and acquisitions and is unable to moderate the CEO's educational background relationship towards the performance of mergers and acquisitions.
