Abstract

Online prostitution on Twitter is a cyber crime. Through a tweet, online prostitution accounts offer sexual services to audiences on Twitter. Online prostitution not only makes this haram practice widespread but also raises concerns because social media users are not just adults. Therefore it is necessary to conduct a study regarding communication on online prostitution as a form of prevention in the form of information to the public. This research is a descriptive qualitative study using a pragmatic approach in examining the texts used in online prostitution business practices. The data were obtained from the process of observation and document collection regarding online prostitution. After collecting data, data reduction is carried out, then the data is presented so that a conclusion can be obtained and its validity is tested through source triangulation. The results of this study found that there are communicators, messages, media, communicants, and effects on online prostitution communication in line with Harold Lasswell's model. In the message itself, there is a depiction of the impression about online prostitution accounts in the form of friendly, intimate, close and seductive impressions. In addition, through a pragmatic approach, speech acts of locus, illocution, and perlocution are also found in messages conveyed through the tweet text of online prostitution accounts.
