Abstract

This study aims to determine the interest in reading library lecturers on the use of international journals at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library. The method used by researchers is quantitative descriptive with two variables, namely interest in reading and utilization of international journals. The population in this study amounted to 10 respondents. Research methods and data collection techniques in this study using questionnaires, interviews and observations. There are 21 items that are valid with a validity test using the product moment formula and a reliability test value of 0.970 on the variable reading interest and 0.932 on the variable utilization of international journals, while the data analysis uses descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the analysis carried out showed that the value of the overall research indicators was 18.03 so that from the results of the analysis the interest in reading library science lecturers towards international journals in the UIN Sunan Kalijaga library had a mean of 2.95 so that it could be categorized well. Furthermore, the 2 variables in this study are divided into 6 sub-variables, each of which has a mean which is described as follows; lecturer reading interest variable is 2.95 and can be categorized well with the following description: the pleasure of reading has a mean of 2.95 and can be categorized well, awareness of the benefits of reading a mean of 3.44 is categorized very well, the frequency and number of readings have a mean of 2, 47 and categorized as good. Furthermore, the use of international journals in the Sunan Kalijaga UIN Library has a mean of 3.05 and can be categorized well with the following description: ease of access has a mean of 3.00 and can be categorized well, library satisfaction has a mean of 2.97 and is categorized as good, library services have a mean 3.20 can be categorized as good. Then for the reading relationship between lecturers and international journals in the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library is 0.849 and because the r-count is greater than r-table (0.849> 0.6319) and the magnitude of 0.849 is included in the category of 0.800-1,000 then it can be said the relationship between interests read lecturers with international journals very high. The researcher suggests to provide full access services to electronic journals and subscribe to the latest published journals and to socialize how to get full access to electronic journals at the Sunan Kalijaga UIN Library.
